Expo Hakel was the first natural history museum for marine fossils in Lebanon. It all started in 1970 when a young Rizkallah Nohra found some odd-looking stones with engravings on them on his family’s land in Hakel. Today, the museum contains fossils of over 500 specimens of fish, rays, plants, crinoids, and crustaceans, the majority of which are now extinct. All the fossils were found in Hakel and are around 95 million-years old.
