Hiking

Wide-ranging terrain, scenic vistas, and historic environs combine to create unique hiking and trekking opportunities throughout Lebanon. Popular hiking areas include designated trails in the Horsh Ehden Nature Reserve near Tripoli and the Chouf Biosphere Reserve both of which offer well-kept, extensive trail systems. Other areas with spectacular scenery and unique historical and cultural attractions include the Qadisha Valley, Makmel Park, and the remote Akkar region in the north.

For a quintessential Lebanese experience, wander through Adonis Valley, a ruggedly-cut gorge scattered with historic ruins that commemorate Adonis and Aphrodite’s epic Greek love affair. There are many trekking clubs and tour operators that run guided excursions throughout Lebanon, which range from leisurely day hikes to longer, more intense several-day-long treks.
